Members Night

A wag once remarked that traditions are changing all the time, and the “tradition”, of holding our members night in December goes from strength to strength. This year, the evening was in the hands of our Secretary, Trefor Jones.

Mr Jones said that a recent arduous committee meeting had concluded with a joke,and it gave him the idea of researching jokes involving history. The members were then treated/subjected to a stream of jokes down the ages. Ancient jokes were first touched upon, Chickens crossed several roads, American history was explained through the eyes of a child and finally the depths of Welsh humour was plumbed.

The evening concluded with another two recent traditions. Firstly, a round of the unique “festive toss the sweet” quiz was held with some very dodgy answers at times. Secondly, nerves were soothed with a cup of Mair’s mulled wine and minced pies.

Mr Gwyn Thomas in his vote of thanks sent the good wishes of all the members to Stuart Hicks who is currently back in hospital and to Julie our hard working Treasurer.
