AGM

The Annual General Meeting was well attended again this year with some twenty members coming to the meeting at the Church Hall on the evening of Monday the 9th of September. It is sad to note that Mr Gwyn Thomas has decided to relinquish his role as Chairman of the Society and that post is now vacant. Gwyn explained that he felt that because of ill health over the past year he has been unable to fulfill his duties completely though he will continue on the general committee.  Most of the committee roles will stay unchanged but to everyone's relief Mr David Woosenam has agreed to take on the role of transport offices which will be a great help.

Mrs Julie Hicks gave a very encouraging financial report  which showed that the Society was very active and had a growing membership. The financial situation is very sound though this has been helped in the past two years by two small financial grants.

Both Mr Phylip Jones and Mr Trefor Jones gave verbal reports on the activities of the Society and it was agreed that the future was a bright one owing to the hard work of all concerned. Mr Trefor Jones pointed out that 2013/14 would be an exciting year because of the various activities which will be happening in the Neath area concerning the centenary of the Great War.

Members who were absent should note that the AGM decided that membership would now cost £10 owing to increasing administrative costs. It was also agreed that an Art and Craft Competition would be held in the coming year in memory of local artist and past Chairman of the Society, John Rees (details to follow). It was also hoped that the entries to the competition would form the basis of an exhibition of artistic work based on the history of the village of Resolfen .
